An unforgettable summer adventure in the Ardeche region of France gave 73 young people from Les Varendes High School the opportunity to try new activities, challenge themselves and make lasting memories.
The trip including canoeing through river rapids, tackling high rope courses, swimming and even a little karaoke.
The young people embraced the experience with enthusiasm, earning praise from instructors and guides, who described them as one of the best groups they had welcomed in a long time. The accompanying staff were so proud of everything the students achieved.
Thanks to funding from the 2025 Saffery Rotary Walk, six families received financial assistance, enabling their children to take part in an experience they might otherwise have missed.
Jason Dodd, Vice Principal at Les Varendes High School, said “Due to the generosity of the Saffery Rotary Walk we were able to help six families in various ways with this trip. The appreciation shown by these families is something I will never forget from the whole of my teaching career.“
As Jason summed it up, the trip was all about making memories, and it certainly achieved that!
The Saffery Rotary Walk returns on Saturday 12 June 2027, again bringing the community together to raise funds for local charities.
