Saffery Rotary Walk

Great news… we’re extending our early bird offer until the end of March!

The #GuernseyTogether spirit has enabled us to minimise the impact of the pandemic and islanders have been rewarded with news of the Bailiwick moving into recovery stage 1.

We don’t want those who held off registering until we saw a relaxation of the lockdown rules to miss their chance to benefit from our discounted rates, so we’ve decided to extend our early bird registration prices until 31 March.

Signing up and training for this epic walking challenge which supports so many fantastic local causes could be just the thing to give some positive purpose and direction while we continue to recover. But DON’T FORGET, when you’re out and about training please strictly follow the Public Health Guidelines.

Saffery Rotary Walk

The Guernsey Bereavement Service is one of the 22 chosen charities to benefit from this year's Saffery Rotary Walk. The Bereavement service provides emotional support to adults who are struggling to cope with a significant loss, hold a small library of written resources and can offer training to workplaces or other organisations in helping the bereaved. They have used the funding to purchase new laptops for their volunteers to support the hard work they do and so they can work remotely. #GuernseyTogether #SRW2021 ... See MoreSee Less

Saffery Rotary Walk

The Saffery Rotary Walk has supported hundreds of local charities since its inception 24 years ago, each one receiving funding for projects that benefit our islands.

In-dependence Guernsey is one of the charities that has been supported by the 2020-2021 Walk. It helps individuals and their families who have developed a dependence on drugs, alcohol or gambling. In-dependence has used the funding to purchase an Alcometer (Breathalyser) kit and Tracey Rear from In-dependence explains how the breathalyser supports their work in this video.

Saffery Rotary Walk

As Guernsey has entered into lockdown once again we would like to reassure our walkers that, while this is an ever-evolving situation, we are still moving forward with preparations for The Saffery Rotary Walk 2020-2021, so if you're planning to register, please do!

If the event can go ahead on 5 June it will be conducted with full Public Health involvement to ensure everyone is kept safe. If the Walk needs to be cancelled all registration fees would become reclaimable.

Our #GuernseyTogether spirit is just as important now in lockdown 2.0 as it was last year! Make sure to take advantage of your two hours of exercise to get some fresh air and the endorphins flowing… you could even use them to get a head start on some training for the Walk with your family.

Please remember that social distancing can be tricky on the cliff paths, so we’d advise avoiding these routes for the time being. If you are a household with one adult and children, you can exercise with one other adult from another household, however you must remain socially distanced at all times. Stay safe out there!

Saffery Rotary Walk

Headway Guernsey, a local charity which supports islanders and their families who live with the long-term effects of a brain injury, was one of the charities to receive funds in 2020 thanks to the generosity of registered walkers and sponsors. Headway has used the funding to update leaflets to raise awareness of the charity and its services.

Philippa Stahelin, Executive Director of Headway said, "We're very grateful for the support of Saffery Rotary Walk. The funding has enabled us to redesign and print our new Headway leaflets. We continue to strive to raise awareness in the community of the services we provide, highlighting where we can help, how we collaborate with the island brain injury team or signpost to other suitable services. These leaflets will be distributed to all GP surgeries and at the PEH so that anyone who might need our help knows we are there.”
