The Saffery Champness Rotary Walk will take place on Saturday 6 June 2015 and the organisers hope to get as many walkers taking part as possible to beat the amount raised in 2014 which amount to £35,000. More than 400 walkers took part in the 2014 Walk.

David Mortimer, chair of the walk organising committee, said:

“Whether you want to do the whole walk or just a section of it, it is a good idea to sign up early and get training as soon as possible. Although it takes place in the early summer, you never know what the weather has to offer so it’s good to train in all conditions.”

Walkers complete the challenge in aid of a range of local charities and causes, which have until 17 December to apply for an allocation of the funds raised by the 2015 Walk.

This year’s Walk saw a record number of nine charities benefitting from money raised with all charities receiving the full amount they applied for.

“We will be announcing which local charities will be benefitting from next year’s Walk in January. We find that having the charities as a focus provides walkers with extra motivation to sign up or to boost their training regime. We would really like to beat this year’s walker numbers to raise as much as possible for these charities,” said David.
